This charming miniature tone poem was originally written by Bridge (himself a violinist) for Violin and Piano in 1905. He also orchestrated it in 1938 at a time when he was working as a conductor of studio orchestras for the BBC. With its lilting 6/8 rhythms and cantabile melodies it is ideally suited to wind players, and is set here for double wind quintet.
